In order to encourage reflection on the impact of medical developments on society and to inspire new vocations, the Brocher Foundation the Brocher Award each year to fourth-year students at the Collège de Genève.
This Award a high school graduation project on an ethical, legal, or social issue related to medical and scientific innovations. Examples include cloning, artificial intelligence, and medically assisted reproduction.
Award ceremony Award place every November at the Brocher Foundation. Winners spend the afternoon there, participating in a workshop led by a bioethicist and a journalist, where they learn how to communicate their research to the general public. Their work is then presented at the ceremony, which also includes a lecture by a guest expert on a topic related to the Foundation's mission.
The Award is a mark of distinction for the winner and allows them to join the Brocher Winners' Club, a community of former award winners.
Through this initiative, the Foundation aims to encourage young people to think critically about the ethical and social dimensions of science, and to take an active part in the public debate on health and innovation issues.
