Neuroethics of Caring: Ethical implications of the latest breakthroughs in the scientific research on the emotions, with a special emphasis on the concept of caring

Introduction:

The goal of our workshop is to bring together empirically minded philosophers and philosophically sophisticated psychologists and neuroscientists to think about the ethical implications of the latest breakthroughs in the scientific research on the emotions. On the philosophy side, we aim to focus on the role of caring—conceived of as a fundamentally emotional phenomenon—in understanding human agency. On the science side, we plan to focus on what we can learn about human agency, and caring in particular, by studying various psychological disorders, including addiction, psychopathy, attachment disorders, and the like.
