Once you’ve stayed at Villa Brocher, you never really leave. The Alumni Community keeps the conversation going long after the Residency, Workshop, or Academy ends.

Anyone who has completed a Residency, organized a Workshop, or contributed to a Brocher Summer Academy is part of the Alumni Community. It’s the Foundation’s way of keeping alive the exchanges that begin over shared meals at Villa Brocher, between experts in medicine, law, bioethics, philosophy, anthropology, history, psychology, sociology, and economics, from every corner of the world.

There’s no joining needed. If you’ve had one of those Brocher experiences, you’re already a member.

Brocher Meetups

Launched in 2020, Brocher Meetups are online scientific cafés that bring the spirit of Villa Brocher’s dinner-table conversations to a wider audience. Sessions are hosted on Zoom and open for anyone to watch.

Alumni propose the topic and two or three speakers by filling out the online application form. Once a proposal is approved, the Foundation takes care of hosting, and each session is moderated on the Foundation’s behalf by a science journalist. Every Meetup is recorded and later posted to the Brocher YouTube channel.

Alumni are warmly invited to help spread the word about upcoming Meetups within their own networks. Stay informed by following us on social media and signing up to our mailing list.

Format: The format is flexible. Organizers can open with a short presentation from each speaker before the moderator steers the conversation, or the moderator can go straight into asking questions. The session always ends with questions from the audience.
