Rest in peace Nina 🕊

It is with great sadness that the Foundation team announces the death of Professor Nina Hallowell, University of Oxford. Nina was a medical sociologist with a longstanding interest in bioethics. She had held research posts at the University of Cambridge and the Institute of Cancer Research and teaching posts at De Montfort University, the University of Edinburgh and Newcastle University. Her research focused upon the social and ethical impact of technological innovations upon individuals, families and society; particularly the introduction of DNA testing in various clinical and research contexts.

We were privileged to know Nina. Apart from the quality of her work, which did not escape the attention of our Scientific Committee, which selected her on 2 occasions (in 2015 : Managing the genetic risk of stomach cancer: socio-ethical issues and 2022: Artificial Intelligence and healthcare: exceptional technology?), we will always remember Nina as a pleasant, respectful guest, full of enthusiasm and kindness. We express our deepest condolences to her family and friends. Rest in peace Nina.
